I was saddened to learn today of the death of Marvin Hamlisch, at the age of 68 after a brief illness. Marvin Hamlisch is probably best known to the masses for his work on "The Sting" and on "The Way We Were" - but he also won a Pulitzer Prize for his score for "A Chorus Line" and his first hit of all things was "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows". He was a child prodigy, and a face that many know as he played himself in "How to lose a guy in 10 days" and also has appeared on many talk shows. He is only one of two people to have won a Tony, an Emmy, an Oscar and a Grammy as well as a Pulitzer Prize. The other is Richard Rogers. He was a prolific composer, and he will be sorely missed by the film and the stage industry, by Barbara Streisand who he worked with extensively - and by me. I felt really sad when I read of his passing. You can read more on his musical triumphs here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Hamlisch
