"In Korea every day is a holiday."
Margaret calls a general in Tokyo about meeting him for her birthday. Then, a new drug called Levophed comes in and Margaret is told that she has to brief her nurses on it. She bribes Major Winchester to do the task so she can leave on R and R. An old Korean comes in with a pregnant cow that had been shot by a sniper. He asks Hawkeye and BJ to save it and the calf. The calf must be delivered before the cow can be operated on. Colonel Potter calls the army veterinarian, Dr. Landau, to help and BJ transfers the information to Hawkeye over the P. A. system. Klinger's nose for money twitches again and he starts a lottery on the time of birth of the calf. Winchester administers the Levophed to the cow. But Margaret, anxious to get away on R and R, drags Klinger away prematurely. On the way to the airport, Margaret insists that Klinger take a shortcut. Klinger does and rocks in the road puncture the oil pan. Margaret wants to walk, but it is getting dark. Klinger tries to comfort her. When the two finally return to the 4077th, Margaret has won the lottery.
Trivia: What time was the calf born?
Bonus: What does Klinger give to Margaret for a birthday cake?
Facts about Winchesters: Even Winchester women do not do women's work.
BJ could also have called his father-in-law for the veterinary assistance as he did in "The Colonel's Horse" (S5). He also could have asked Major Winchester, who delivered a calf in "Dear Sis" (S7). Another calf was delivered by Trapper in "Dear Dad" (S1). Kellye is referred to as Lieutenant Nakahara. Finally, this may be the first time in the series that someone other than Father Mulcahy has won a pool.
An OK episode.
