"He'd be all right if you hadn't cursed his turnip."
Klinger is delirious with a kidney infection and has a temperature of 104 1/2. Wounded come and among them are two friends. One of the friends, Private Jimmy Weston, dies. Klinger, in his delirious state, is able to talk to Private Weston after he comes out of his body. Weston watches Father Mulcahy give him last rites. He watches as Hawkeye and Winchester fight over a nail. Hawkeye nails Winchester's shirt to the wall. He listens in on Margaret and BJ fighting over a fork -- a special one with long thin tines. He watches again as BJ and Father Mulcahy go through his personal effects. He then visits post-op where his friend, Corporal Frank Hicks, is being consoled by Colonel Potter and Father Mulcahy. Next, Weston visits Colonel Potter in the mess tent and asks him to tell his folks about his death. He talks to Margaret after her suggestions about how to help Klinger have been ignored by the doctors. He then listens as Corporal Hicks dictates a letter to Colonel Potter about the good times he and Weston had had together. Finally, Private Weston visits the Swamp where the doctors are getting drunk. He finally fades away and leaves down the road with the other people who have passed on. Klinger passes a kidney stone and recovers.
Trivia: What is the name of Private Weston's girlfriend?
Bonus: What was Father Mulcahy's girlfriend's name?
This episode has no laugh track. This is Kario Salem's second appearance. In "Deluge" (S4) he played another patient that died.
An OK episode that was unique (for M*A*S*H) and memorable.
