Klinger is preparing for a poker game and the mail man comes. Among the mail is a driving citation for Colonel Potter. The colonel is about to "pencil-whip" it through until Klinger makes him feel guilty. He decides to take the driving course taught by Sergeant Rizzo. Rizzo does everything he can to get the colonel to pass, but the colonel refuses to cheat. After failing the written test, the colonel has Klinger stay up all night with him to help him study. The next day, the colonel passes the test and then finds out that he has to take the driving test. The colonel almost hits Klinger who is staggering from fatigue across the compound. Colonel Potter decides to ride Sophie from now on. BJ gets a letter from Peg saying that she had to take a job to help pay the mortgage. He suddenly becomes a miser, even selling Peg's rum cookies. He throws his wedding ring into the poker pot when he is only bluffing. Then BJ tries to get soldiers to bet on pinball games in the officers' club. Finally Hawkeye and Margaret are able to talk some sense into him. The doctors play Go Fish with mints.
Trivia: What is Peg's new job?
Potterism: "Suffrin' buffalo chips!"
Tony Becker was Drew Cutler on "The Waltons". He also starred in the TV Series "Tour of Duty" as Danny Percell.
A forgettable episode.
