"The meek may inherit the earth, but it's the grumpy who get promoted."
Klinger is reading Father Mulcahy Colonel Potter's recommendation for promotion when the colonel walks in. Father Mulcahy says he won't raise his hopes, but after he is outside he celebrates. Somehow the recommendation gets lost at headquarters. In Rosie's bar, the doctors are toasting to anything when an argument breaks out between a Greek and a Turk. Rosie tries to keep them from fighting by stepping in between them, but it doesn't work and Rosie is injured. In post-op she tells the doctors that she will lose money because she has to shut down, so the doctors and Margaret decide to help her out and run the bar. Rosie tells them the rules including what to do if Muldoon shows up. Unfortunately, Winchester didn't hear these rules and throws out the M. P. when he shows up. The Turk and Greek start another fight in post-op and Father Mulcahy is called upon to break it up. Meanwhile, Colonel Potter calls up the pentagon and talks to the chief of chaplains. Finally, Father Mulcahy gets promoted to captain. Rizzo's girl dumps him for a "college boy."
Trivia: How much is Rosie's cut on the tips the waitresses get?
Bonus: For what sports did Winchester letter in college?
Potterism: "Two hips and a hoo-ray"
Father Mulcahy says he has been passed over for promotion three times before. Two of the times were in "An Eye for a Tooth" (S7). All guest actors have appeared on earilier episodes. John Orchard is back for a swan song after having played Ugly John for half of season 1. This is Momo Yashima's final outing on M*A*S*H.
An OK episode.
