Andy Griffith passed away at the age of 86. I feel like I lost an old friend. From No time for Sargents, to Mayberry, to Matlock, to Ritz Crackers, and finally to the video of "Waiting on a Woman" with Brad Paisley, I loved him in everything he ever did.
He worked with MANY of our MASH stars on different occasions - I bet "Goober", "Barney" and "Aunt Bea" were glad to see him, but he will be missed by the rest of us.

I also feel like I lost a friend, been sad all day. He brought a lot of joy and laughter to many people. He'll definitely be missed.

I was going to ask that. The jews, and indeed many non religious jews, do indeed bory their dead before nightfall if at all possible.
He was wonderful and has left us a remarkable legacy.

Not Jewish. He was Southern Baptist. Buried within 5 hours......something's fishy.

I am deeply, deeply saddened by this... Andy Griffith was certainly a TV legend for everybody, but particularly here in the south, he was larger than life: he's almost always on TV in my town, whether it's the local channel playing reruns of his show, or cable networks like TV Land playing, and he's been a part of my life almost as long as the Muppets have been (as far back as I can remember), so with him gone, I almost feel as if I've lost someone who was very near and dear to me, even though I never knew him personally.
I should also point out, you know how in Vegas, they have all those Elvis impersonators? Well, here in East Tennessee, we have Mayberry impersonators. True. Quite some time ago, a couple built their own Mayberry in their backyard, with the courthouse, Floyd's Barbershop, and the diner, and of course, they have Barney, Aunt Bee, Gomer, Otis, and Floyd. Matter of fact, I had an encounter with our Barney impersonator once when I did camera work at our local PBS affiliate several years ago, one of our local shows is a retrospective series showcasing old serial westerns, and he was a guest one day; before we started taping, I was getting my camera ready for the shots, and the next thing I knew, "Barney" snuck up behind me and asked me, "Is that camera aimed fast?" I got a big laugh out of that.
It'd be kind of cool if someone started M*A*S*H impersonations around these parts, I'm the real-life Radar, lol.
