"I'm in Korea, but I'm fighting the bore war."
Klinger is having neck pains. The U. N. sends three visitors to observe how the 4077th operates. Margaret falls in love immediately with the Swede, but he is impotent. He confides his problem with Hawkeye and Hawkeye tries to get Margaret to leave him alone. Margaret goes to his tent anyway and ends up spending the night with him. Winchester becomes friendly with the Breton who has travelled throughout England and France. They get drunk and start insulting each other, but Winchester's insults are true because Mr. Kent is actually a chauffeur and not of the English upper class as Winchester had thought. Colonel Potter catches the Indian doing yoga in the supply tent and decides to try it himself. Klinger joins them after the two have moved into the colonel's office. The yoga cures his neck. Hawkeye comes in looking for someone to talk to and finds only legs. He finally tries out the yoga, too. BJ’s dilemma is that he tells a patient that his leg will be okay and then has to amputate it.
Trivia: What is the name of Per's book?
Potterism: "Great gopher holes!"
Hawkeye mentions that Soviet leader Joseph Stalin had died. This would put this episode after March 5, 1953. While this story is obviously fiction, there is, in fact, a restaurant in France called "Pied du Cheval" (Horse's foot). It is not in Bordeaux or Lyons, however; it is in Cancale on the English Channel.
Dennis Holahan (which is amazingly close to Houlihan) would later become Loretta Swit's real life husband. He would appear in the movie "Scarface" with Al Pacino. George Innes was a regular, Alfred on British TV's "Upstairs, Downstairs". Kavi Raz was Dr. Vijay Kochar on "St. Elsewhere". This is Brigitte Chandler's first appearance (air date order). She will also be in the concluding episodes of M*A*S*H.
This episode holds the distinction of being the only one I ever fell asleep while watching it. It is indeed boring as the quote above suggests.
