"She was a good nurse."
Hawkeye wakes BJ up at 3:00 in the morning to tell him about his fantastic date. The next morning, Colonel Potter announces that Hawkeye's date, Nurse Millie Carpenter, had stepped on a land mine and was killed. Hawkeye offers to give the eulogy at her funeral, but he can't find out anything about her. The nurses suggest that she may have been a little stingy, and Father Mulcahy can't find reference to her hometown or family anywhere. Father Mulcahy gives Millie's diary to Hawkeye to read and Hawkeye finds out more about himself than he wanted to know. During the eulogy Hawkeye vows to change himself for the better. He is able to tell his friends how he really feels about them. Klinger is at it again. This time he wants Major Winchester to invest in the hip hoop business. Winchester finally does when he finds out that people like stupid things. However, he takes his money back when he uses the hoop and gets laughed at. Later Klinger tries to get him to invest in the flying disk business.
Trivia: What Li'l Abner toy did Colonel Potter buy at the Kimpo PX?
Bonus: Where was Millie from?
This is the first produced 11th season episode. Ironically, Connie Izay, an actual nurse who both guest starred and was a technical advisor, passed away about the time this episode was being filmed in August.
An ok episode that makes you think about death a little.
