"Sometimes a man can have an awful good thing staring him in the face and not even know it."
The Red Cross sends a beautiful French doctor, Martine LeClerc, to observe at the 4077th. She and Winchester fall in love. When she talks about her past, though, she reveals that she had posed nude for a painting and that she and her last romance lived together, but were never married. When Winchester realizes this is what she wants to do again with him, the love affair is broken off. Major Reddish comes to the 4077th to reward a North Korean, Lieutenant Chung Wha Park, $100,000 and a trip to the United States. The North Korean turns down the rewards. Major Reddish, however, is intent on bringing this man back to the United States and offers him many other gifts. Hawkeye comes up with the solution to make everyone happy. Major Reddish's interpreter, Joon-Sung, takes the place of the North Korean and the North Korean goes to the prison camp with a new American suit.
Trivia: What did the North Korean do to get the reward?
Bonus: What makes Major Winchester laugh?
The end theme is used for the opening credits. This is a Season 10 episode that was held to air in Season 11. The big error of this episode is that Colonel Potter calls World War I "P. M. - pre-Mildred". In "Images" (S6) he says he met Mildred in 1913 and has been married 38 years. In "Point of View" (S7) and "Too Many Cooks" (S8) he is also married before WWI. He also says that Danielle "was an older woman of 20". We can't be exactly sure what that means, but in "Pressure Points" (S10) he says he is 62 years old, so he couldn't be saying that she was older than he was. They are probably taking him back to season 4 when he said he served in WWI at 15 ("Change of Command" (S4)) and has been married 27 years ("Dear Mildred" (S4)).
Jeffrey Tambor is the familiar face of this episode. He was a co-star on "The Ropers" at the time playing Jeffrey P. Brookes. Since M*A*S*H, Mr. Tambor was a regular on "Hill Street Blues" and "The Larry Sanders Show" and many other shows. This is Melinda Mullins' acting debut. She would be Hilary Booth on TV's "Remember WENN". Soon Tech-Oh and Bryon Chung are in their farewell M*A*S*H episodes here. Pat Romano is a stuntman with hundreds of movies to his credit.
Overall this was a good episode.
