"Daffy doc sticks out tongue depressors at Washington."
There is a lull on and the last patient, Sergeant Oldham, is leaving post-op. Before he goes he gives the doctors a roll of prima-cord that he had used in his work. Father Mulcahy wants to help Margaret, but she has busied herself doing her laundry. Klinger is trying to write a newspaper. He gets Margaret to write a beauty column and Winchester to write a gourmet column. Klinger does his own "Dear Aunt Sadie" column. The cost of subscribing is going up with every subscriber. Then a story comes along. Through an error in the requisition forms, the 4077th gets 500,000 tongue depressors. A depressed Hawkeye starts building an "'ahh'-ful tower" with the names of all the wounded who passed through the hospital on it. Klinger calls in a Stars and Stripes reporter, Captain Maurice Allen, to report on the tower. When "Morry" tells "Benny" (Hawkeye) about its potential for recruiting, Hawkeye decides it is time to get rid of the tower. With the prima-cord, Hawkeye blows up the tower just before a picture of it is taken. Colonel Potter, however, managed to paint a picture of it, though.
Trivia: What is the name of Klinger's newspaper?
Bonus: What is the name of Margaret's column?
Hawkeye can be seen in this episode wearing 80's style sneakers when he is walking with BJ across the compound. Hawkeye pays tribute to the past doctors at the 4077th. This is William Bogert's second appearance on M*A*S*H.
An OK episode.
