About a month or two ago, my friends and I were discussing horror films. One of my friends mentioned a version of Frankenstein that he saw as a child that terrified him. The film was called Frankenstein: The True Story, and it was a rather unique take on the classic story. In this version, the creature that Frankenstein creates is actually beautiful. He's a very handsome man (played by Michael Sarrazin) who over time turns into a hideous monster as the process begins to reverse itself and his body begins to decay. Although I have no idea how the film can call itself "The True Story" since it takes a lot of liberties with the original story, I did enjoy the unique twist on the classic tale.
The film was a British production that aired there and in the United States (courtesy of NBC) as a two-part miniseries. It was made in 1973 before some of its cast became well-known. Jane Seymour and Tom Baker (albeit it in a very tiny role) are two such actors. The film also boasts James Mason, David McCallum, and Agnes Moorehead amongst the cast.
